Biography

Sandra Schocket is a widely published freelance writer and author of the book My Life Closed Twice: Surviving a Double Loss, describing the loss of her husband and son within 24 hours, and her road to rebuilding a new life following this tragedy.

She has contributed articles to The New York Times, Working Woman, New Jersey Star-Ledger, Trenton Times, and The Boston Globe as well as local and trade publications. Her previous book, Summer Jobs was widely appreciated by high school and college students. She has been honored as a New Jersey author of the year and Listed in Who's Who in America. She has been interviewed on radio and television as an expert in job search. Ms. Schocket has also made numerous public appearances, as well as being interviewed by the press, discussing the topic of coping with loss.

As a Board certified career counselor, Ms. Schocket draws on her experience counseling individuals who have suffered job loss to help her confront her own loss. In My Life Closed Twice she explores the parallels between the stages of grief experienced through employment loss and those incurred through other major losses such as death and divorce.

Sandra Schocket is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College with a degree in psychology and economics. She holds a Masterís Degree in Education from Rutgers University.
